Excellent academics, and more accommodating for Muslim families than we expected

We moved from London in 2022 and chose Cahaya mainly for the academics and the smooth IGCSE pathway. The teaching has been genuinely excellent — small classes, experienced British and international staff, and very good EAL support that helped our younger one settle within a term. It is a secular school, so Islamic studies is not part of the curriculum, but they were far more accommodating than we expected: there is a quiet room used for prayers, the canteen has clearly-labelled halal options, and they were thoughtful during Ramadan (reduced PE, a separate quiet space at lunch). The community is very international which made it easy for the children to make friends. Fees are high and there are extras (bus, exams, trips), so it is a real commitment. My honest advice: brilliant if you want top academics and will handle the Islamic side at home and through your local masjid; if you want an Islamic ethos baked into school life, look at the integrated schools instead.

Great facilities, communication could be better

Facilities are outstanding — sports, labs, library, a proper pool. Our daughter is happy and the pastoral team is kind. The main frustration has been communication: emails can go unanswered and you sometimes hear about events last-minute. Halal food is available. Worth visiting in person before deciding.
